I keep reading about the Sarasota County public schools and how poorly they are doing.
I also read about the budgeting and the funding of private and religious school scholarships that are paid by the tax dollars that you and I provide.
No wonder our public schools do poorly.
What happened to the separation of church and state?
I pay my taxes and expect the money to go to the public schools – not to private and religious schools.
Where I once lived it was illegal to take our taxes to fund private and religious school students.
If some students need a special program, it should be provided by the public system.
Florida teachers do not receive decent salaries because too much money goes to scholarships for private and religious schools.
Our public school students suffer because insufficient funds are available for supplies and resources for educational programs.
We should demand that our taxes remain available for our local public schools.
