As the Powerball edges toward a new record jackpot ——currently at $1.8 billion, as of the afternoon of Sept. 5 — some new players may be wondering about that Power Play and Double Play options. Is it possible to win even more?
Sadly, you can’t win multiple of the big jackpot. But you can multiple your non-jackpot winnings for an extra buck per play with the Power Play option. And if you choose Double Play (also an extra $1), you get a second chance to win cash prizes with the same numbers in a separate drawing held immediately after the Powerball drawing.

When you fill out the Powerball play slip and choose your numbers (or check the Quick Pick option), there are options for add-ons.
If you check the Power Play box and then, in the drawing, you win anything below the jackpot, your winnings will be multiplied:

The other option is Double Play, which is also $1.
After the Powerball drawing there will be a Double Play drawing where if you’ve chosen the option, you have the chance to win cash prizes with the same numbers.
