Ida Baker boys basketball coach Casimiro Razo was arrested on Thursday, May 7, for soliciting a romantic relationship with a student.
According to a Cape Coral Police Department incident report from Feb. 2, the student was caught with a vape cartridge in school. While talking to an assistant principal, she reported that Razo, 36, made inappropriate contact with her.
The student alleged while she was in Razo’s class during first semester of the 2025-26 school year, he began telling her she was cute and looked pretty. The two began texting, with him writing her notes saying she looked nice and suggested they meet up.
Razo asked her to stay after class in October 2025, where he kissed her on the mouth. After that kiss, Razo was very nervous and admitted to going too far, according to the report. Since the kiss, he has not tried to reach out to the student nor send any text messages to the victim, the report stated.
The victim did not have any of the text messages saved, but did have his cell phone saved, she told police. She no longer had Razo as a teacher when the new semester started in January.
Razo has been charged with being an authority figure soliciting or engaging in a romantic relationship with a student. He has not posted bail as of Thursday morning.
Razo’s employment status as a teacher in the Lee County School District remains uncertain.
Razo spent two seasons at Bonita Springs, leading the Bull Sharks to a 14-32 record. In his two seasons at Baker, he coached them to a 13-38 record.
Razo is the second boys basketball coach in Lee County to be arrested this year and faced charges for a sex offense, engaging in a romantic relationship with a student. Former Evangelical Christian coach R.J. Jones was arrested in March on similar charges, and admitted to kissing a student in his deposition. His bond was set at $100,000.
