A three-vehicle wreck has closed Highway 20 in both directions in western Leon County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 18 near the intersection of Cornerstone Lane. The wreck caused an alert on the state’s 511 traveler information service.
Three people were hurt and taken to the hospital, said Master Corporal Patricia A. Jefferson-Shaw, a spokesperson for FHP. She did not immediately know details but said no pedestrian or bicyclists were involved.
In the wake of recent pedestrian deaths on Highway 20, also known as Blountstown Highway, Leon County Commissioner Christian Caban teamed up with FHP to launch a speed enforcement operation to encourage drivers to slow down.
Traffic was still blocked as of 5:15 p.m.
