Here's where Tommy Castellanos ranks on On3's Heisman poll

Tommy Castellanos came into Florida State’s game on a roll through his first two games. After making the Alabama Crimson Tide’s defense look pedestrian, he followed it up with another excellent performance versus the East Texas A&M Lions before the team’s bye week.

Waiting for the Seminoles were the Kent State Golden Flashes, and well, it was more of the same. Castellanos once again didn’t throw a lot of passes, but he carved up Kent State with a few deep balls to freshman wide receiver Micahi Danzy who had a career day and ended up completing 10 out of 13 passes. He did throw an interception, but it was an excellent play by the defender due to Castellanos not being a tall guy and he threw the ball right to him at the line of scrimmage.

Last week, Castellanos made an appearance on On3’s Heisman poll. He ranked No. 2 on the list behind Oklahoma Sooners quarterback John Mateer. This week, Castellanos was once again behind Mateer at the No. 2 spot.

Castellanos has had a very efficient season overall through FSU’s first three games. He has had to pass much because of Florida State’s dominance, but Castellanos has completed 27 of his 38 passes (71.1%) and thrown three touchdowns. Also, he’s gained 139 rushing yards and he’s scored three times.

Florida State will hit the road on a short week and play the Virginia Cavaliers this Friday. More than likely, he’ll have to throw the ball more and have to make some tough throws in tight situations, which is a good thing before playing the Miami Hurricanes the following week.
