THE VILLAGES — Piesano’s has announced the grand opening of its newest location in Florida.
Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza will celebrate its new location at Southern Trace at Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, next to the new Costco, on Monday, Oct. 13.
What will the new Villages Piesanos look like?
According to Piesanos’ company spokesperson, the new, 3,000-square-foot restaurant “introduces a modernized design that blends the warmth of Italian hospitality with a refined, contemporary aesthetic.” The spokesperson effused about the new spot’s “sleek white quartz countertops, new wall tile treatments bordered in gold, slate-style tile flooring, and eye-catching gold wine cage above the bar.”
A sign of today’s times, The Southern Trace Piesanos will also feature a smaller footprint and scaled-back design, and will have less seating than other locations.

What is Piesanos’ ‘Volcano Oven’? A first in The Villages
Southern Trace is the first Piesanos to fire up the new “Volcano” Pizza Oven by Hot Rocks.
“This state-of-the-art oven uses advanced technology to turn out the same legendary granite stone-fired pizzas, but faster and more efficiently, keeping up with demand while maintaining the artisanal quality guests love,” a company news release explains.
What to expect grand opening week?
To celebrate the opening, Piesanos is partnering with Villagers for Veterans, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans and their families.
From Oct. 13 through Oct. 19, Piesanos will donate $5 for every $25 in gift card sales purchased at the Southern Trace location.
“We’re excited to welcome Piesanos to Southern Trace and are grateful for their support of our mission,” said Marie Bogdonoff, founder of Villagers for Veterans, in a Piesanos media release. “This partnership will directly benefit veterans in our community, and the funds will create a meaningful impact from day one.”
What sets Piesanos apart from other chains?
Fifteen Piesanos locations have proliferated across Florida.
Customers’ reviews say they return to enjoy the eatery’s fresh-baked rolls and stone-fired pizza crust.
According to the company, handcrafted pastas and meal prep with what the company describes as “premium ingredients” such as Grande mozzarella and imported Italian pasta distinguish Piesanos from other chains.
Piesanos’ media promotes the restaurant as blending authentic Italian tradition with modern innovation.
Is this the first Piesanos in our area?
No. The new location will be the third Piesanos in the Daily Commercial readership area of Lake and Sumter counties.
Other locations include one at Lake Deaton Plaza in The Villages and another in Clermont on State Road 50.
