With the holidays around the corner, some shoppers can’t wait to get their hands on the Black Friday deals. Many are even accustomed to heading to the stores on Thanksgiving Day, however, retailers have started to shy away from opening on the holiday.
Here’s a list of major local retailers and their hours on Thanksgiving and Black Friday:
Oaks Mall
6419 W. Newberry Road, Gainesville
The mall is closed on Thanksgiving but is open on Black Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Bass Pro Shops
2650 Bass Pro Shops Blvd., Gainesville
Stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and on Black Friday from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Best Buy
3750 SW Archer Road, Gainesville
Best Buy will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. It will open be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Black Friday.
Target
3970 SW Archer Road, Gainesville.
Target will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
Publix
All Gainesville Publix stores and pharmacies will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and resume normal store hours on Black Friday.
Trader Joe’s
3724 SW Archer Road, Gainesville
Trader Joe’s will be closed for Thanksgiving but will resume normal hours on Black Friday.
Lowe’s
3101 Clark Butler Blvd., Gainesville; 2564 NW 13th St., Gainesville; 15910 NW 144th Terrace, Alachua
Lowe’s will be closed close for Thanksgiving but will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
Walmart
2900 SW 42nd St., Gainesville; 5700 NW 23rd St., Gainesville; 1800 NE 12th Ave., Gainesville
Walmart will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. It will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
Home Depot
7107 NW Fourth Blvd., Gainesville; 5150 NW 13th St., Gainesville
Home Depot will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. It will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
Kohl’s
3501 SW Archer Road, Gainesville
Kohl’s will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. It will open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday.
JC Penney
6481 W Newberry Road, Gainesville
JCPenney in the Oaks Mall will be closed on Thanksgiving, but will open on Black Friday at 5 a.m. Closing times vary by location.
Burlington
3642 SW Archer Road, Gainesville; 2643 NW 13th St., Suite 20, Gainesville
Both Gainesville locations will closed on Thanksgiving Day, and open on Black Friday from 7 a.m. to midnight.
Whole Foods
3490 SW Archer Road, Gainesville
Whole Foods in Gainesville will open on Thanksgiving Day from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Black Friday.
