Just hours after the Florida State Seminoles took care of business against an inferior opponent, the Florida Gators failed to do so. The Gators lost to the USF Bulls 18-16 on Saturday in the Swamp.
Florida had a chance to win the game as USF missed a 58-yard, go-ahead field goal with 2:52 left to play. Billy Napier opted to throw twice and went three-and-out, giving the Bulls the ball back on their own 11 with 2:22 to play.
That is when the wheels fell off for the Gators, as a Florida defensive lineman spat on a USF player, giving them 15 yards and getting himself ejected. On the next play, USF quarterback Bryum Brown connected with his running back on a 29-yard catch and run, getting them into field goal range.
Napier had a chance to use timeouts to preserve some clock, but opted not to use them until the end. That allowed USF to kick a 20-yard field goal as time expired. The upset stunned FSU’s fans and people across the country, who all took to social media to react to the loss. Here is a look at the best reactions.
