The Illinois high school football season resumes with Week 2 on Friday, Sept. 5.
Rochester’s ranked showdown at Mount Zion airs on CW23 with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. Rochester is ranked No. 2 in Class 4A by The Associated Press, while Mount Zion is No. 3.
Below is the complete schedule. This page will be updated with live results and top performers from around Springfield. All games are on Friday, Sept. 5, unless noted otherwise.

Top Performers
Jackson Sanders, Williamsville
The senior quarterback completed 9 of 12 passing attempts for 103 yards and two scores in a 45-8 win over Petersburg PORTA. He also ran for 47 yards and another score on seven carries before the reserves took over the second half. Junior Collin Grosenheider had three catches for 41 yards and two scores, while junior Kaden Entwistle had two grabs for 52 yards. Senior running back Matthew Miller added two scores before the break.
Kaiden Stout, Rochester
The senior running back churned out 286 rushing yards and two TDs on 36 carries, plus three receptions for 55 yards and another score in a 28-24 win over Mount Zion. He parred the deficit to 24-21 on a 31-yard TD catch from senior quarterback Tanner Beal before ploughing back to the end zone at the goal line midway through the fourth quarter for the go-ahead score.
Mikey Groesch/Cam Brinkman, Sacred Heart-Griffin
Groesch rushed for three touchdowns, and Brinkman accounted for five scores as SHG defeated host Mascoutah 65-20 to improve to 1-1. Brinkman had a pair of rushing TDs that went for 11 and 33 yards. The quarterback also completed three touchdown passes — two to Drew Ward (23 and 22 yards) and one to Bryce Kraft (27 yards).
Tony Boyd, Southeast
The junior quarterback had a 52-yard TD run in the first half and scored the go-ahead TD on a 17-yard scamper to go with a 2-point conversion pass in the fourth quarter as Southeast posted a 14-6 win at Lincoln. Boyd finished with 156 rushing yards on 16 carries and completed 6 of 14 passes for 68.
Joel White, Carlinville
The sophomore running back ran for three second-half touchdowns, caught a first-half TD and went 3-for-4 on extra point attempts as Carlinville defeated Gillespie 41-0. White’s TD runs were from 1, 3 and 8 yards, and he finished with nine carries for 120. His touchdown catch went for 41 yards.
Cayden Green, Havana
The senior running back rushed 26 times for 245 yards and three touchdowns in Havana’s 26-6 win over Monmouth United as the Ducks evened their record at 1-1.
Brady Crews, New Berlin
The senior quarterback completed 10 of 15 passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns in New Berlin’s 36-12 home win over Auburn. He also was the leading rusher for the Pretzels with 10 carries for 67 yards.
Colten Knoedler/Blake Lehnen, Chatham Glenwood
The pair of Titans’ seniors were locked in during Glenwood’s 48-0 win over Bonne Terre North County (Missouri) on Friday. Knoedler, the Titans’ slinger, found Lehnen four times — three for touchdowns — and 109 yards, including an 82-yard TD. Knoedler finished 11-for-13 with 256 yards and five TDs.
Dylan Huff, Chatham Glenwood
One of the most prolific thieves in Central State Eight Conference history at the defensive back position, the senior had two more interceptions in Friday’s 48-0 win over Bonne Terre North County (Missouri). Huff, who picked off eight passes last season, has 11 INTs in his last 14 games, including one in the Titans’ Week 1 win at Edwardsville. Huff also made four tackles.
Gage Honn, Athens
The senior fullback ran 27 times for 226 yards with four touchdowns in Athens’ 42-19 victory over Pittsfield in the Sangamo Conference. He finished 6-for-6 on PAT kicks. Teammate Talon DiGiovanna added 124 yards on 15 carries with a touchdown.
Xander Smith, Pleasant Plains
The quarterback completed 18 of 34 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns in Pleasant Plains’ 68-21 defeat to Maroa-Forsyth.
Gradyn Hartlaub, Riverton
The junior quarterback totaled 260 yards and provided the Hawks with three touchdown passes in Riverton’s 46-20 loss to Stanford Olympia. Hartlaub had TD passes to Tyler Meyer that covered 31 and 18 yards and another to Jaden Rivelli that went for 42. He finished 11-for-19 for 175 yards while rushing for 85 yards on 13 carries.
Cayden Durbin, Pana
The junior racked up 231 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries as Pana beat Piasa Southwestern 33-0 in a South Central Conference game on Friday. He also caught one 15-yard pass from QB Parker Moore. The Pana defense picked up Southwestern QB Blake Rimbey three times.
