Former FSU softball pitcher Mimi Gooden has found her new home. The former Seminole announced she had signed with the UNCW Seahawks out of the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Gooden spent three seasons in Tallahassee, pitching in 2024 and 2025 before redshirting in 2026. The Milton, Florida, native will have two seasons of eligibility with the Seahawks, who went 32-19 last season.
She played in 35 games for the Seminoles, finishing with a 4.39 ERA in 67 innings pitched. Opponents hit .291 off her and drew 22 walks to 33 strikeouts.
She saw the most action as a freshman in 2024, making 25 appearances and starting 11 games. She finished the year with a 5-2 record and a 4.38 ERA over 54 1/3 innings. She was unable to take the next step as a sophomore, recording a 4.42 ERA across 12 2/3 innings in 10 outings as she was surpassed on the depth chart.
Gooden is one of five FSU players to enter the transfer portal this offseason, and the only pitcher. She is the third to find a new school, with shortstop Isa Torres joining the Texas Longhorns and outfielder Addie DeLong joining the Ohio State Buckeyes. Third baseman Jaysoni Beachum and catcher Danika Spinogatti are still available.
