Former FSU reliever commits to Mountain West team

Former FSU pitcher Jake Echols is headed out west. The former Seminole has committed to Crand Canyon University, announcing the news on Friday.

Echols spent just one season in Tallahassee after spending the first two seasons of his career at Polk State Community College. He played in nine games for FSU, finishing with a 1.93 ERA in 9.1 innings with 10 strikeouts, three walks, and seven hits. He also threw two wild pitches and hit four batters.

His last appearance of the season was on April 21, as the coaching staff went away from him at the end of the season. He threw a season-high 2.0 innings twice, and the Orlando, Florida native will have two seasons of eligibility at Grand Canyon.

Echols had two productive seasons at Polk State Community College before coming to Tallahassee. He played in 31 total games, pitching 84.1 innings with a 4.70 ERA. He had 93 strikeouts and 31 walks, holding opponents to a .278 batting average.
