Former Florida softball star makes AUSL history with 3 HR game

Former Florida softball star Skylar Wallace had a breakout performance for the Chicago Bandits on Thursday night against the Carolina Blaze, becoming the first player ever in AUSL history to hit three home runs in a game.

Wallace went 9-for-10 with four HR, nine RBIs and seven runs scored in the two-game series with the Blaze, including a season-best seven RBIs in the series finale. As of Sunday, she has slashed .522/.586/1.022 for an eye-popping 1.608 over 14 games stretching over 58 plate appearances this year, amassing 24 hits — including three doubles, a triple and six home runs — along with 20 runs scored and 17 RBIs.

The 2023 NFCA Player of the Year has also collected eight walks against six strikeouts while successfully stealing a base in five of her six attempts this season.

The Gators alumna started the season playing in Japan for a month before joining the Bandits, and her arrival was well-received in Chicago. The team began the schedule with just four victories in 11 games, but since then have won 11 of their last 12.

Over the course of her career in the AUSL, which stretches back to the 2024 All-Star Cup, Wallace has posted a .421/.490/.749 slash line for a 1.239 OPS in 52 games over 201 plate appearances, recording 72 total hits, including nine doubles, one triple and 15 home runs with 59 runs scored and 46 RBIs, while walking and striking out 19 times. She also has 17 stolen bases against just one caught stealing.
