With training camp drawing closer, we will be highlighting the one big question that faces each of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ position groups.
Next up is the safety position, which will see the return of Caleb Ransaw this season.
What can Caleb Ransaw add to the Jaguars’ 2026 safety room?
Ransaw, unfortunately, missed his entire rookie season with a foot injury. But he was back practicing during offseason programs and figures to factor into this position group this season.
At Tulane, Ransaw was sticky in coverage and proved to be a sound tackler. Although Eric Murray and Antonio Johnson are the projected starters, defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile utilizes a lot of three-safety looks, giving Ransaw the opportunity to see the field.
What his presence could provide Campanile with is added flexibility. With Ransaw at deep safety in certain situations, that frees up Campanile to move Johnson around more.
Due to that missed time, Ransaw doesn’t have a ton of banked on-field reps at this point, however, Liam Coen said that Ransaw used his time while rehabbing to familiarize himself with the ins and outs of the playbook.
The next step for Ransaw is putting that knowledge of the defense into action on the field.
