Lake Mary softball’s game at the 2026 Little League Softball World Series on Friday, Aug. 7, went into a weather delay after lightning was reported in the area.
The Florida vs. Washington game was in the top of the fourth inning went officials pulled players off the field about 4:15 p.m. ET. The team from Snohomish, Washington, had a runner on first base with one out.
Lake Mary had taken a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI double by starting pitcher Brynn Fieser. The two teams are playing an elimination game. The skies about Stallings Stadium in Greenville, North Carolina, seemed clear with just a few clouds, but reports of lightning within an 8-mile radius required players to be taken off the field for safety.

The winner advances to play Clayton, North Carolina, on Saturday, Aug. 8, while the loser’s time in Greenville, North Carolina, is done. Florida lost 5-2 to the North Carolina team on Thursday, Aug. 6, forcing them into today’s elimination game.

According to ESPN, the Florida vs. Washington game will resume at 5:25 p.m. ET.
When will Little League Softball World Series resume?
When lightning is registered within 8 miles of a game, Little League rules dictate all players must be pulled off the field for safety purposes. Little League Baseball and Softball rules say play must stop for at least 30 minutes of a lightning alert, meaning Florida vs. Washington could resume again about 4:45 p.m. ET if there are no other lightning strikes reported in the 8-mile radius, but at 5 p.m., play had yet to resume.

Little League Baseball and Softball posted an alert about the weather delay at 4:35 p.m. ET, about 20 minutes after the game got paused. “We will provide updates as they come,” the post read.
Where is the Little League Softball World Series?
Since 2020, Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park in Greenville, North Carolina, has hosted the Little League Softball World Series. The stadium sits about a mile northeast of the East Carolina University baseball and softball stadiums.
