Florida State extended an offer to four-star edge DeAnthony Lafayette last week. It was another attempt for the Seminoles to find edge help after several targets committed elsewhere over the last few weeks.
Despite his commitment to the LSU Tigers, Lafayette expressed intrigue about FSU trying to flip him.
“Florida State offering me yesterday was big and it moves the needle a little bit. I’m confident in LSU but I do want to see what FSU has to offer,” Lafayette told Noles247.
Lafayette will also take some in-season visits in 2025. One of them will be to Florida State, and he recently spoke on what he likes specifically about defensive coordinator Tony White’s 3-3-5 scheme.
“I will definitely hit up FSU, to see what they have to offer,” Lafayette told Rivals. “I like the multiple defense that they run, it’s very versatile with the JACK linebacker. I like the way they use their D-line.”
Lafayette is the nation’s No. 359 overall player and the No. 41 edge per Rivals industry rankings. The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder is the No. 51 prospect in the state of Florida as well.
The Orlando product was an absolute beast for Lake Nona High School last season. He tallied 73 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one interception.
Florida State will also host four-star Syracuse Orange edge Jarius Rodgers for an in-season visit. Likely, it will take them flipping an edge that’s already committed or scooping one up that decommits at some point during the season.
