It has been a rollercoaster season for Florida baseball, and this week was one of the upswings. After three wins in four tries against a pair of top-five teams — all played away from Condron Family Ballpark — the Gators once again find themselves back among the D1Baseball rankings’ top 25 at No. 20.
That puts the Orange and Blue between the No. 19 Oregon Ducks and No. 21 UCF Knights, and makes Kevin O’Sullivan’s squad one of 10 SEC schools listed among the top 25.
The week began with a 4-3 win over the then-No. 5 Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee to sweep the three-game season series. Florida then traveled to Athens, where they opened the weekend with an 8-2 victory over the then-No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs on Friday night, followed by a 5-1 loss on Saturday afternoon; a 13-7 slugfest triumph on Sunday afternoon sealed the deal on the series win.
Next up for the Gators are the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats, who arrive in Gainesville on Tuesday night for a midweek matchup starting at 6:30 p.m. ET. The homestand continues into the weekend, with the No. 13 Auburn Tigers coming into town for a trio starting on Friday at 5:30 p.m. ET.
