FHSAA Gainesville-area high school softball district tournament results

High school softball waited for all other sports to embark on its postseason, but now, these athletes receive their moment in the sun.

That’s right, it’s district week.

For some Gainesville-area teams, the season will end here. For others, districts are merely a prep for the all-important region playoffs. And finally, there are some teams that need a postseason run to achieve championship glory.

Districts will be most interesting to see the squads at the top. In the latest FHSAA rankings, seven local squads – Columbia, Santa Fe, Trenton, Gainesville High, Branford, Williston and Buchholz – rank in the top 100 statewide.

Will each of those teams win a district crown? Some have it easier than others. Columbia, for example, needs to likely face Baker County – the state’s No. 5 squad – to win it all.

Point is, this is going to be an exciting week of high school softball. Keep it locked here for scores throughout the area.
