ESPN compares Florida's Maxwell Hiller with nation's top OL commits

ESPN compared top blue-chip prospects across the 2026, 2027 and 2028 recruiting classes and featured recent Florida commit, five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller. As one of the most coveted OL recruits nationally, Hiller is currently ranked No. 4 overall in ESPN’s 2027 SC Next rankings and is widely considered the best tackle in the country.

College football analysts Craig Haubert and Tom Luginbill noted that Hiller “has consistently excelled during in-person evaluations and already flashes plug-and-play potential entering his senior season,” also adding, “He plays with power and nastiness while also possessing impressive flexibility.”

They go on to say, “In pass protection, Hiller shows strong body quickness, understands angles and, with good feet and balance, can mirror pass rushers effectively.”

Hiller is evaluated against top OL prospects from 2026, Jackson Cantwell, and 2028, Antijuan Wilkes. Experts said that Wilkes yields the highest long-term upside while praising Hiller as “outstanding,” but dubbed Cantwell the best of the group.

Earlier this spring, Hiller gave the program its first five-star signing since DJ Lagway in 2022. His arrival marks the biggest win for new head coach Jon Sumrall in the 2027 cycle.
