Charles “Rick” Byars and Brooke Snyder have been appointed to the Pensacola State College District Board of Trustees, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on May 22.
Since January, DeSantis has appointed seven new trustees to college’s governing board. Byars and Snyder will be the ninth and 10th trustees. They join trustees George Atchison, Ed Fleming, Richard Holzknecht, Todd Leonard, Oscar Locklin, Audrey McDonald, Zack Smith and Dr. Troy Tippett.
Gordon “Flash” Sprague’s term on the PSC board ends on May 31.
Byars is a senior external affairs manager for Florida Power and Light Co. He is also a member of the University of West Florida Foundation Board and the Florida Economic Development Council.
Byars earned his bachelor’s degree in geology from Northeast Louisiana University and master’s degree in business administration from Millsaps College.
Snyder is an adjunct professor at Liberty University. She previously was an adjunct professor at Birmingham-Southern College, a biology instructor at Jefferson State Community College and a fellow at Emory University.
Snyder earned her doctorate in neuroscience from Tulane University.
The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
