A suspect remains at large after leading Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a harrowing evening chase through northeast Tallahassee to the Georgia state line and back down into town.
There were multiple reports of hit and run crashes as the vehicle weaved through traffic even driving the wrong-way, though the crashes haven’t been confirmed, according to FHP Corporal PJ Shaw.
Shaw said the chase began at 4:40 p.m. when Troopers spotted a vehicle with a stolen tag. They began pursuit and the suspect fled.
Dozens of people on Facebook reported close calls. One person said their daughter was hit head-on by the fleeing drive. Here’s a sampling of other comments.
The chase began at Thomasville and Bannerman Road and proceeded to the Florida-Georgia Line before the driver turned around and headed back into town. Troopers lost contact with the vehicle at Capital Circle and Gum Road in west Tallahassee.
Shaw said as of 7:45 p.m., the search continues. She said Troopers made contact with a female who may have been inside the vehicle and they hope to get more answers.
This is a developing story. Check back for details later.
