Bucs' Rachaad White earns positive label from fantasy football community

Not often do backups pay off in fantasy football, especially at the running back position. For them to do so, they need to be part of a dynamic offense that scores often, or be in games where they can still see their production rise without dipping.

Luckily for the Bucs and Rachaad White, he is in one of those offenses where he can be productive in a backup role behind Bucky Irving. He will remain on the field in part due to his dual-threat ability, as well as his pass-blocking ability. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay is aware of this as well, which is why when he gathered up the top five backup running backs to stash in fantasy, White made the cut.

He writes, “Despite being demoted, White held onto some value in PPR leagues by slightly outperforming his rookie competition in both receptions (51 vs. 47) and receiving yardage (393 vs. 392) while scoring all six of the pair’s receiving touchdowns. . .White is still well worth a pickup near his current 12th-round ADP. He’s going to remain heavily involved in the passing game and has the potential to re-emerge as the Bucs’ leading backfield option if Irving goes down with an injury.”

White was coming off a season in which he had 1,539 total yards in 2023 before he lost the starting role in 2024 to rookie Bucky Irving.

The former Sun Devil will also be going into a contract season, so he will be playing with a chip on his shoulder. If White produces even half of what he did in 2023, he will be a fun stash in fantasy in 2025.
