No one ever wants to win a football game when the opposing team loses an impact player. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t allow teams to be 100% all the time, and you get wins one way or another. In the case of the Bucs on Sunday against the 49ers, they put up 20 points on the 49ers in the first half after their defense lost its All-Pro linebacker, Fred Warner.
Bucs head coach Todd Bowles spoke about the impact of Fred Warner and the 49ers losing him after their win on Sunday. He shared the same sentiment that everybody had watching that scary injury unfold on TV or at the game.
“It was sickening. I mean you saw it when it happened. He’s one of the best players in the league. A great guy on top of that. You hate to see something like that happen. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery. That kind of breaks your heart no matter what side of the ball you’re on.”
The 49ers will be without another star after losing Warner for the year, after losing Nick Bosa in the weeks prior. Both of them and the Bucs had one loss apiece despite their depleted rosters; it speaks to the coaching, which means the Bucs are likely to see them again before the season ends for one or the other.
