Bucs running back had a rookie season to remember in various ways. He started out as a backup before eventually earning a starting role with one of the best offenses in the NFL. By the end of the year, he also was apart of history watching Mike Evans tie Jerry Rice in the record books.
Ironically, Irving scored a touchdown in Week 17 that almost cost Evans that history, but that won’t change how much regard he holds the future Hall of Fame wide receiver. When speaking to the media at minicamp, Irving gave the Bucs legend about as high a compliment as someone could give.
Evans has a chance to own the record of consecutive 1,000-yard receiving yard seasons if he does it again in 2025. It would certainly put him in the conversation for being among the best wide receivers all-time, even if others don’t view him that way.
For Bucky Irving and his kids, though, Evans will always be their greatest of all time, and that will be more than good enough.
