WALTON COUNTY − A 7-year-old boy was seriously injured June 20 when he was struck by a vehicle on Grayton Beach.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, here’s what we know:

June 20 about 3:16 p.m.
Where did the crash happen?
On the sand of Grayton Beach.
What vehicle was involved in the crash?
An SUV.
Who was involved?
The driver of the SUV is a 23-year-old man from Santa Rosa Beach. He had three passengers, all 23-year-old men, from Tampa, Birmingham, Alabama, and Sterrett, Alabama.
The pedestrian is a 7-year-old boy from Inlet Beach.
The patrol does not provide names in its news release.
How did the crash happen?
The driver of the SUV was reversing south while on the sand of Grayton Beach. The 7-year-old was standing behind the SUV. The driver of the SUV failed to stop for the pedestrian.
The rear of the SUV struck and ran over the 7-year-old, according to FHP. The vehicle came to final rest within the area of collision, facing north.
The SUV driver “held a valid pass and had authorization to drive on Grayton Beach Access,” the FHP news release says.
