Blue-chip RB sets commitment date, Florida State top four finalist

2027 four-star running back Brayden Tyson has around 40 scholarship offers. However, he’s narrowed things down to four schools that he’ll be choosing from.

The South Carolina Gamecocks, Purdue Boilermakers, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and Florida State Seminoles are his final schools. He’s also set his commitment date for May 15.

FSU has had Tyson as a key target since they offered him in January of 2024, and he took an unofficial visit that April. He took four more unofficial visits to Tallahassee in March, June, October, and November of 2025.

Tyson has continued to frequently visit Florida State in 2026. He attended a Junior Day event in January plus he took unofficial visits in March and April.

That’s a significant amount of time that Tyson has spent around FSU’s program. It’s formed a strong bond between both parties, which the 6-foot-1, 215-pounder spoke about recently.

“It is about the coaches at Florida State,” Tyson told Rivals. “They’ve built a real connection with me and my mom. How the staff and the backs work together has always stood out there.”

As a junior at Brookwood High School, Tyson had a productive season. He amassed 1,292 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. As a pass catcher, Tyson gained 201 yards on 13 receptions and added one more score.

Tyson is the No. 301 player nationally and the No. 23 running back per Rivals’ industry rankings. He’s the No. 32 recruit in the state of Georgia as well.

Florida State is also a top finalist for another prospect in Georgia. They’re one of the top five schools for three-star safety Jeremiah Proctor out of Gainesville High School.
