It’s a 10-year plan with phased projects leading up to hospital in Ave Maria.
Here’s what you need to know:
What local officials say
“I have tremendous respect and appreciation for what the leadership at NCH has done and is doing,” Blake Gable chief executive officer of Barron Collier Companies, said. Gable serves on the NCH board of trustees.
Residents of Ave Maria and elsewhere in eastern Collier are ready for NCH to build services nearby, said Bill McDaniel, Collier County Commissioner whose district includes eastern Collier.
“They are champing at the bit,” McDaniel said. “We are really excited about it. Having the (medical) infrastructure is important.”
Jonathan Kling, chief operations officer for NCH, said the hospital system will be looking for philanthropic support for the project, similar to other the new cardiac care center planed for the NCH Baker Hospital and the recently opened orthopedic hospital in North Naples that is a joint venture with New York-based Hospital for Special Surgery.
“This is really a community asset and we are just blessed to bring it to fruition,” Kling said. “It is very exciting to bring that care to our community.”
