After 24 years, Ruby Tuesday abruptly closes Jacksonville restaurant

After more than two decades, Ruby Tuesday has closed its Regency-area restaurant.

The restaurant at 1022 Hospitality Lane, located near the intersection of Monument Road and I-295, abruptly closed this week. The closing, which was first reported by the Jacksonville Daily Record, was confirmed on Ruby Tuesday’s website on May 28.

According to a listing on LoopNet, the 5,650-square-foot restaurant is being offered for $3.165 million. Built and opened in late 2002, the restaurant was renovated a decade ago. Its lease was set to expire in December, the listing notes.

The closing is one of several Ruby Tuesday restaurants to close in recent weeks.

Earlier in May, Ruby Tuesday closed restaurants in Middletown, Del., Lebanon, Tenn., and Norwegian Township, Penn., according to published reports.

The storied casual dining chain is known for its large menu of American cuisine, including steaks, chicken, seafood, pasta and burgers, as well as its popular Endless Garden Bar.

Founded in Knoxville, Tenn., in 1972, the chain at its peak operated some 950 restaurants. By October 2020 – when it filed for bankruptcy protection – Ruby Tuesday operated 750 restaurants, The Street reported. By late 2025, just 204 restaurants remained open, according to data company Scrape Hero.

Ruby Tuesday’s history in Jacksonville

After making its Northeast Florida debut in early 1980 at Orange Park Mall, Ruby Tuesday operated as many as nine Jacksonville-area restaurants in the early 2000s, including at The Jacksonville Landing, The Avenues mall and Orange Park Mall; 1360 Airport Road; 4784 Windsor Commons Court; 590 Marsh Landing Parkway in Jacksonville Beach; 1521 CR 220 in Fleming Island; 2443 SR 16 in St. Augustine; and 1022 Hospitality Lane.

Which Ruby Tuesday locations remain in Northeast Florida?

Following the recent closure of the Regency location, just four area restaurants remain: Airport Road, Windsor Commons Court, Fleming Island and St. Augustine.
