A shooting, a chase, an arrest: Man learns jury's decision in 2022 West Palm homicide

A 42-year-old man will serve life in prison after a jury found him guilty in the December 2022 shooting death of a man in West Palm Beach.

Jurors on June 24 convicted Reginald Davilman of Riviera Beach on one count of first-degree murder on June 24 in the death of Brisline Estime.

Circuit Judge Caroline Shepherd immediately imposed a life sentence on Davilman and appointed a public defender to represent him in his appeal. As a policy, the Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office does not comment on open cases.

Police arrested Davilman in the Dec. 5, 2022, fatal shooting of Estime on the 600 block of 54th Street, near Broadway and northeast of St. Mary’s Medical Center. Officers found Estime, then 39, lying on the sidewalk.

Investigators alleged Davilman approached Estime that afternoon while carrying an AR-style firearm and fired multiple shots. Estime died at St. Mary’s.

The search for the shooter led officers to a home in Riviera Beach, where police captured Davilman after he jumped out of a back window.

Investigators said Davilman fled the shooting scene in a Nissan Altima. Officers tracked the vehicle through video-surveillance footage to the 700 block of 58th Street, where an officer attempted to pull it over.

Investigators said Davilman pulled into a driveway, then exited and fled on foot, running across the city line into Riviera Beach.

He entered the passenger seat of a vehicle on the 500 block of West First Street and asked a woman to help him escape, but she refused. Davilman then forced his way into a residence and tried to hide.

After police took Davilman into custody, a witness identified him while reviewing a photo lineup. During their deliberations, jurors posed questions about how a piece of evidence was tested and stored, and asked to review a video recording of the lineup identification.
