There’s a lot on the line this time of year. When Ryleigh Knowlton gets a game-tying hit or Maclain Irby gets a game-winning it, it means more than just a win for the team. It means the season doesn’t end. For individuals, their performances get them closer to winning an individual state title, so there are many important performances from April 27 through May 3 in The Ledger’s Tremendous 10 poll, presented by Central Florida Behavioral Health.
In last week’s poll, McKeel girls tennis player Briley Davis picked up 68.1 percent from the vote to run away as the top vote-getter. McKeel baseball player was second with 24.7 percent.

1 Auburndale senior McKenna Battilla (girls tennis) capped her stellar career by finishing state runner-up in the Class 3A state tournament. She is the second Polk County girls player to finish state runner-up in singles and just the third Polk player to play for a state title in singles.
2 Bartow pitcher Ryleigh Knowlton (softball) pitched a three-hitter, allowing just two runs, and struck out 10. She also doubled home the game-tying run and went 1-for-3 with three RBIs in the semifinals. For the season, she is 17-2 with a 0.59 ERA and 185 strikeouts. She also is batting .338 with three doubles and 20 RBIs.
3 Lakeland senior DJ Dobie (boys track and field) became the first Dreadnaught to win the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the region meet since Leon Covington in 2006. He won the 100 in 10.50 and the 200 in 21.68. He also won the anchor leg on the winning 4×100.
4 Lake Wales junior Zamirya McBurrows (softball) pitched a one-hit shutout to beat Lake Region in the 4A-7 district championship game. She also struck out 10 batters. In two games of the district tournament, she also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
5 Lakeland Christian senior Maclain Irby (baseball) singled home the winning run in the deciding game against Cocoa Beach that clinched the best-of-3 2A-2 regional semifinals series. Irby batted .400 (4-for-10) with four RBIs in the three-game series to raise his batting average 20 points to .282.
6 George Jenkins junior Tori Gibson (girls track and field) won 28 points for the Eagles at the 4A-2 region meet. She won the long jump (19-02.5) and placing second in the 100 hurdles (14.90) and 400 hurdles (1:03.37). She also was seventh in the triple jump.
7 Auburndale sophomore Wizly Payoute (girls track and field) won the 100 in 12.18 and the 200 in 25.17 at the 3A-2 region meet.
8 Victory Christian junior Andrew Morrison (boys track and field) won the 110 hurdles (14.76) and finished second in the 200 (22.07) at the 1A-3 region meet.
9 McKeel freshman Kamryn Scobey (softball) went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one run scored against Mulberry in the district championship game. For the season, she is batting .345 with 17 RBIs.
10 Winter Haven senior Jody Wilson (baseball) batted .500 (3-for-6) with a double, a triple and three RBIs against Plant City in the regional semifinals series. He also was the winning pitcher in the first game of the series. For the season, he is batting .341.
