The Jacksonville Jaguars open up the 2025 regular season at home against the Carolina Panthers, and with the NFL back, it’s time to hone in on our fantasy football lineups, specifically who we should be starting and who we should be sitting.
So, given the matchup at hand for the Jaguars, here are two players to start vs. the Panthers and one player to sit. And of note, with Brian Thomas Jr. being an auto-start each week, we’ll highlight two other Jaguars players instead.

Start: WR Dyami Brown
An under-the-radar offseason addition and someone who won’t garner a ton of attention with Thomas and Travis Hunter also at wide receiver, Brown impressed throughout the summer.
Known for his speed, he provides the Jagurs with another vertical presence and someone who can get the ball around the line of scrimmage in space, where his YAC abilities can take over.
But in addition to that, Liam Coen was also impressed by Brown’s presence and route running at the intermediate level of the field as well. With attention elsewhere, and Brown able to impact each level of the field, there could be several passing game opportunities that come his way.
Sit: Jaguars’ running backs
As I wrote in my key to victories, getting the run game going is a must. Anthony Rizzuti, the managing editor of Panthers Wire, noted that Carolina’s front seven was one of the big question marks for this team entering the season.
The recipe for the Jaguars’ running backs to have success is there. However, what is the workload for each of those players going to look like? We know it will be a committee approach, but how exactly that breaks down remains to be seen.
Right now, trying to predict which back could have the big day is a complete guess.
Start: TE Brenton Strange
Sitting at the top of the tight end depth chart is going to mean more opportunities for Strange. But in addition to that, the tight end plays an important role in the passing game within Coen’s offense.
Last season, the Bucs’ Cade Otton finished ninth among all tight ends in targets. And like Brown, Strange could benefit from the attention that Thomas and Hunter draw.
