Among the positions that the Jacksonville Jaguars could target in free agency is running back, with Travis Etienne hitting the open market.
Running back was recently mentioned by one Jaguars insider as a position that he expects the team to add to in free agency.
If GM James Gladstone does go down that path and address this position, PFF’s Mason Cameron noted that two of the free-agent options available have ties to Jaguars head coach Liam Coen.
Rachaad White and Sean Tucker, both of whom played for Tampa Bay, are set to hit the open market. Coen, of course, was the Bucs’ offensive coordinator in 2024.
Tucker was the third Bucs’ running back on the depth chart, but was still involved in the offense, carrying the ball 86 times last season for 320 yards. He also led the team in rushing touchdowns with seven, despite the relative lack of opportunities.
With Coen calling the plays in 2024, Tucker averaged 6.2 yards per rush on 50 carries, according to PFF.
White rushed for 572 yards in 2025 and 614 yards in 2024 with Coen, averaging 4.3 yards per rush during that two-year span with seven total touchdowns. His best season came in 2023, when White eclipsed the 1,100-yard mark.
White was also very active in the passing game, which included 57 targets with Coen calling the plays in 2024.
“With his dual-threat ability, White can produce as a receiver while being featured in the running game,” wrote ESPN’s Matt Bowen. “Last season in Tampa, White had 40 receptions and 790 total yards. He would fit in a split-backfield approach, adding value on passing downs.”
Even if Etienne ends up elsewhere, the Jaguars still have Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen. However, depth is needed with Ja’Quinden Jackson, the only other running back under contract, not to mention that some added experience wouldn’t be a bad thing in a young Jaguars’ running back room.
