Deputies were dispatched to the Big Bear Dam for a search and rescue of the woman, later identified by investigators as Big Bear resident Isabella Fanuele, who had fallen near Big Bear Lake.

Arriving deputies discovered the woman was under the Highway 18 bridge with friends when she fell from the top of the support structure under the highway.

Deputies and Big Bear Fire Department first responders went down the hillside to the location where Fanuele had fallen and found her at the bottom of the hill.

Big Bear Fire paramedics initiated lifesaving measures on Fanuele. Despite their efforts, she died at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed no indications of suspicious circumstances surrounding the Fanuele’s death; however, the investigation remains open and ongoing.

Big Bear High graduate

Danny Fanueler, told the California Post that his daughter had just graduated from Big Bear High School two weeks before the tragedy.

He said Isabella loved to study, play sports and bake. She even started her own cooking business while in school and made close to $4,000.

“She had to open her own bakery,” said Danny, who added that Isabella was also close to her 16-year-old brother, Alex.

Danny described his daughter as an excellent student who was “always on the honor roll.” Isabella played varsity softball and golf, according to her high school.
