The iPhone 17 is officially here, and you can preorder it in just a few days.
Apple unveiled the latest iPhone series — as well as the “thinnest iPhone we’ve ever made,” the iPhone Air — during its Apple event on Tuesday, Sept. 9, after months of speculation about the new phones. Other big announcements came during the Apple event, including updates to AirPods Pro and the Apple Watch lineup.
The iPhone 17 has a larger, 6.3-inch display with “thinner borders,” Apple announced on Tuesday. That’s paired with a display quality that’s said to reduce glare as well, and updates to the camera.
When can I preorder the iPhone 17?
Preorders begin Friday, Sept. 12. They’ll be available starting Sept. 19.

Apple also introduced the “thinnest iPhone we’ve ever made,” the long-rumored iPhone Air, with a “radically thin frame.” It’s 5.6 millimeters, and the frame is made with titanium.

What to know about the iPhone 17 camera
During the announcement of the iPhone 17 came some updates to the front-facing camera.
Apple introduced its “Center Stage front camera” that boasts a “wider field of view and higher resolution.”
“Users no longer have to rotate their iPhone to take a landscape selfie — they can now take photos and videos in portrait or landscape while holding their iPhone vertically,” Apple said.
“For group shots, Center Stage for photos uses AI to automatically expand the field of view and can rotate from portrait to landscape to include everyone in the frame,” according to Apple.
People can now record on the front and rear cameras at the same time with Dual Capture, Apple said.
