Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is widely considered the best shopping day of the year for consumers.
The National Retail Federation predicts that retail sales in November and December will grow between 3.7% and 4.2% over 2024. That translates to total spending between $1.01 trillion and $1.02 trillion. By comparison, last year’s holiday sales rose 4.3% over 2023 to reach $976.1 billion.
“American consumers may be cautious in sentiment, yet remain fundamentally strong and continue to drive U.S. economic activity,” NRF President Matthew Shay said. “We remain bullish about the holiday shopping season and expect that consumers will continue to seek savings in nonessential categories to be able to spend on gifts for loved ones.”
For those who celebrate the unofficial shopping holiday, here is a list of when popular Tulare County retailers and shopping centers open on Friday, Nov. 28.
Visalia Mall
Visalia Mall will be closed on Thanksgiving. The mall will open early on Friday at 9 a.m. and close later at 9 p.m.
Individual store and restaurant hours may vary.
Tulare Outlets
The Tulare Outlets will be open from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Black Friday.
There are special early bird perks for shoppers who arrive early. The first 150 shoppers in line at 6 a.m., 8 a.m., or 10 a.m. will snag a mystery envelope redeemable for a gift card or retailer prize—plus a chance to win a $500 outlets gift card.
Target
Target’s Black Friday hours begin at 6 a.m., and the stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day. The main Black Friday sales start online on Thanksgiving Day, but in-store shopping kicks off when doors open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
Walmart
Walmart stores will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, and will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Online deals for Black Friday start earlier, with deals for Walmart+ members beginning Nov. 24.
Macy’s
Macy’s Black Friday sales are happening now, with early access deals starting in November. Stores will open at 6 a.m. Friday for in-person shopping.
Black Friday Early Access kicked off on Monday, Nov. 10, followed by Black Friday deals running through Nov. 29, with Cyber Monday savings from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1.
Best Buy
Best Buy will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but open on Black Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The official Black Friday Sale begins Thursday, Nov. 20 — more than a week before Black Friday so you can get a jump on the savings, store officials announced on Tuesday.
TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and HomeGoods
All TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and HomeGoods stores will be open at 7 a.m. on Black Friday.
Dick’s Sporting Goods
Dick’s Sporting Goods opens at 6 a.m. on Friday and closes at 10 p.m. The store will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Check the company’s website to learn more about the company’s Black Friday sales.
