Sunday was mostly unkind to 49ers fans. San Francisco fell behind big to NFC West rival Los Angeles and then watched the Rams roll away late after San Francisco had tightened things back up.
It all added up to an ugly 42-26 San Francisco loss from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford had his way with the 49ers’ secondary, passing for 280 yards and four touchdowns.
But, the other side of the football saw some strong performances. A look back at the 49ers’ top performers from Sunday’s loss against the Rams.
Mac Jones
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said afterwards that Brock Purdy was close to playing. In the meantime, Mac Jones made his eighth start in 2025 and his sixth straight.
Jones completed 33-of-39 passes for 319 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. The lone pick came on a 4th-and-4 snap with the 49ers trailing by two scores and Jones needing to force it. It wasn’t Jones’ fault that Sunday didn’t turn out differently.
Jones’ record as a starter in 2025 falls to 5-3.
George Kittle
49ers star tight end George Kittle made multiple sensational plays on Sunday. First, he hauled in a Superman grab. Then, he somehow stayed in bounds and made a leap for the pylon for a 13-yard touchdown reception.
Kittle finished with nine catches for 84 yards and a score.
Brian Robinson Jr.
Brian Robinson Jr. was the 49ers’ leading rusher on Sunday, carrying eight times for 41 yards. With his 1-yard touchdown plunge in the third quarter, Robinson registered consecutive games with rushing touchdowns for the first time since October of last year when he enjoyed a string of four straight games with rushing scores.
Luke Farrell
Luke Farrell registered his second career touchdown with a 9-yard touchdown grab early in the fourth quarter.
