The USA men’s national soccer team must wait for the results of the final 2026 FIFA World Cup group matches to find out who they will play in the knockout round in Santa Clara.
Team USA sits at the top of Group D after its 2-0 victory over Australia last Friday, June 19 at Lumen Field in Seattle.
This week, the US and five other teams — also sitting at the top of their groups — watch and wait while other groups battle for a chance to advance.
While Team USA qualified for the knockout, it must still play a final match against its third Group D opponent, Turkey, on Thursday, June 25.
With the next round locked up, coaches may use that game to rest experienced players and give less-seasoned ones the chance to take the field and gain World Cup experience.
