For most programs, going two weeks without picking up a new commitment is not anything unusual. But given how well USC has recruited the past two cycles under Lincoln Riley and Chad Bowden, the fact that the Trojans’ most recent commit was four-star defensive lineman Alifeleti Tuihalamaka 14 days ago was somewhat notable.
Well that “drought” is now over. On Sunday, USC got another big recruiting victory, landing four-star safety Gavin Williams.
Williams chose the Trojans over rivals Notre Dame and UCLA, as well as conference foe Washington. He is another Southern California product in USC’s 2027 recruiting class, coming from La Verne. 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 159 overall player and the No. 11 safety in the class.
USC’s 2027 recruiting class currently sits at No. 4 in the country, per 247Sports’s rankings. Interesting, the Trojans are surrounded by their two biggest rivals in the rankings, with Notre Dame at No. 3 and UCLA at No. 5. As the 2027 recruiting cycle continues to heat up, Riley and Bowden will look to push the Trojans past their two historic foes and contend for the top class in the country for the second year in a row.
