A 29-year-old Victorville woman died after being struck by a car along Central Road in Apple Valley on Friday night, law enforcement officials said.
The driver, who was not injured, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators following the collision, which took place just after 9 p.m. May 15 at Central and Ottawa roads, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
“Deputies determined a gray Lexus IS250 that was traveling northbound on Central Road approaching Ottawa Road struck a pedestrian who was standing in the northbound lane of Central Road at the intersection with Ottawa Road,” the agency said in a written statement.
The pedestrian died from her injuries at the scene, officials said.
She was identified by San Bernardino County coroner’s officials as Claudia Alexa Avila, 29, of Victorville.
Central Road was shut down near the crash site for about three hours as deputies gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses.
No further information was available.
