Tyler Bilodeau was a resiliant UCLA Bruin during his two years in Westwood. Bilodeau is keeping the same reputation in the Summer League with the Brooklyn Nets after Bilodeau had a frisky outing on Thursday against the Houston Rockets.
The Nets did fall to the Rockets 100-83 but it wasn’t from a lack of fighting from Bilodeau and Brooklyn. Bilodeau played a big role, getting 24 minutes and scoring 10 points on 3-10 shooting with three rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
On top of Bilodeau’s production in the statsheet, he was in the middle of several slight dust ups during the game, showing that competitive spirit can still run hot even in an exhibition setting. Bilodeau’s Summer League teammates surely appreciated the fire, with the Nets dropping to 2-2 in the Summer League.
Bilodeau wasn’t a part of a partciulary successful era of UCLA basketball but he was the best player on last year’s team, putting up a very impressive season that got the Nets to take a chance on him in the second round of this year’s draft. Bilodeau put up 17.6 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting a very impressive 46.4% from three.
If Bilodeau will stick in the NBA, it’ll take his fiery spirit and elite perimeter shooting for a post player. Bilodeau isn’t going to have a height advantage in the NBA after standing at 6’7” at the NBA Draft Combine, but the skilled big man’s competitive spirit is not in question.
