Last season was a disaster for the UCLA Bruins. It got off to a nightmare start. The Bruins started 0-4 and were the first program to fire their coach in the 2025 season. Following that, they went on a three-game winning streak with their interim head coach, which was not enough to save the season. The Bruins lost the last five games of the season.
With new head coach Bob Chesney the Bruins are hoping for better fortunes.
In a recent article, Bjorn Bergstrom is predicting the Chesney era at UCLA will start with a 7-6 season. Here is what he had to say about the Bruins:
“It can’t get much worse than last season for the Bruins. With the old James Madison coaching staff coming in, and with Nico Iamaleava at quarterback surrounded by a solid roster talent-wise, UCLA should be much more respectable this fall. They will not be world-beaters, but seven wins would be a solid season for them.”
The Bruins showed they can win games in the Big Ten last season on their win streak. Bob Chesney is a proven winner, and he is the right guy to turn the Bruins into a competitive Big Ten team. Lincoln Riley will need to quickly find something with his Trojans before another former Pac-12 team finds its grudge in the Big Ten first.
