A Ventura County tax preparer has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for filing tens of hundreds of false tax returns, according to authorities.
A federal judge sentenced Anna Quach, 50, of Thousand Oaks, 27 months in federal prison for one count of aiding in the preparation of false tax returns on Aug. 6, according to a U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California news release. The judge also ordered her to pay $6.48 million in restitution for the offense.
On Feb. 18, Quach pleaded guilty to the offense she committed for her clients at AQ Financial, also known as A2Z Tax Solutions. She also pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud, officials said.
From 2011 to 2024, Quach prepared 1,734 Form 1040 federal tax returns to the U.S. Treasury, the release says.
She included fake losses of businesses that didn’t exist and used such losses to offset her client’s income, officials said. Quach also included false deductions for medical expenses and charitable contributions.
The false tax returns resulted in significantly reduced taxes owed to the government, the release says.
