Teen accused of ramming patrol cars, injuring innocent bystanders during Victorville pursuit

A 16-year-old Ontario boy is accused of crimes including attempted murder after ramming patrol cars and injuring innocent bystanders while leading deputies on a wild chase through Victorville in a stolen car this week, authorities said.

The incident unfolded shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, when deputies spotted an allegedly stolen car in the area of Mojave Drive and Condor Road, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials.

TThe driver of the vehicle intentionally rammed into responding marked patrol cars,” sheriff’s officials said in a written statement. “The driver fled the scene and led deputies on a vehicle pursuit.”

As the chase continued, the fleeing driver crashed into another car containing an uninvolved driver and passenger, officials said.

The young suspect tried to run from the crash scene but was quickly apprehended by deputies.

He, as well as the two injured bystanders, were taken to a hospital for treatment, officials said. No injuries to deputies were reported.

Deputies ultimately arrested the boy on suspicion of attempted murder, evading police while driving the wrong way in traffic, hit-and-run involving injury and possession of stolen property, according to the statement.

Authorities did not elaborate on why they alleged the incident amounted to attempted murder.

Officials withheld the suspect’s name due to his age.

No further details were available.
