Continued safety and pavement upgrades will force the closure of Stoddard Wells Road in Victorville.
Caltrans announced that from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Sept. 29, and from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Oct. 1, Stoddard Wells Road off Highway 18/D Street will be closed.
Construction work in the area will include cold plane and overlay, new ADA curb ramps, electrical upgrades and landscaping.
During nighttime closures, D street will remain open with one lane available in each direction, while crews complete grinding and pavement work.
Drivers should proceed with caution and allow extra time to reach their destination, Caltrans officials stated.
Caltrans project
The Stoddard Wells Road work is part of the $26.1 million Caltrans project to improve roads and safety along Highway 18 in Apple Valley and D Street in Victorville.
Project work will also continue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, on both roadways, Caltrans officials stated.
The project includes ramp gradings, pavement overlay, rock blanket placement, curb ramp improvements, concrete barrier work, road resurfacing, ADA-compliant ramp upgrades, new lighting and enhanced pedestrian features.
The project is fully funded through Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
The construction schedule is subject to the availability of materials and equipment, as well as weather conditions.
The entire project is expected to be completed by summer 2026.
