A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle in Simi Valley on June 21.
At 7:41 p.m. a Simi Valley Police Department Flock camera detected the vehicle, which had been reported stolen earlier in the day, traveling through the city, according to a news release.
An officer soon located the vehicle and detained the four occupants who were all juveniles.
The driver, a Simi Valley resident, was arrested and later released to his parents, while the other three occupants were released to their parents at the scene, police said in the release.
According to Sgt. Rick Morton, the driver was considered “in possession” of the vehicle and the other occupants could not be charged because they were deemed passengers. Morton added that the vehicle owner, who lives in the same apartment complex as the suspect, had left the keys inside the vehicle before it was stolen.
The vehicle was returned to its owner, police said.
