Simi Valley man charged for attempted murder in attack at Target

The Simi Valley man who allegedly attacked a woman and at least four other shoppers at a Target store faces an attempted murder charge and more, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

Rejean Morgan Tabor, 34, was charged in Ventura County Superior Court June 23 with felony attempted murder and four misdemeanors for assault, cruelty to a child and two counts of battery, according to DA’s office news release.

No plea was entered, and the criminal proceedings were suspended pending a competency hearing on July 16, the DA’s office said.

The charges stem from a June 17 attack where Tabor walked into the Target at 51 Tierra Rejada Road in Simi Valley and allegedly began attacking a woman he didn’t know, Simi Valley Police Department officials previously said.

He is accused of strangling her while covering her nose and mouth, DA’s officials said. Other shoppers attempted to help the woman but were also attacked by the man.

One woman was pushed to the ground, while another person was allegedly bitten, hit and scratched by Tabor.

He also allegedly attacked a 16-year-old from behind and threw a glass bottle at a Target employee, the DA’s office said.

Tabor was arrested inside the store, less than 24 hours after he was released from custody after serving a sentence for two separate, unrelated criminal cases in Ventura County, the DA’s office said.

He remains in Ventura County jail with bail set at $750,000, jail records show.
