Authorities are investigating the death of a person in a car parked on the driveway to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum in Simi Valley.

The Simi Valley Police Department received a call from a passerby at 12:59 p.m. about a dead person inside a vehicle with a gun, said Cmdr. Bryan Samples.
At 1:25 p.m., Simi Valley police issued a traffic advisory in the area of 40 Presidential Drive, the street leading up to the library, according to a department news release. Police had advised residents and visitors to stay out of the area until further notice.
Samples said officers believe the person may have died by suicide. The vehicle was parked near the first roundabout at the library, Samples said.
“We haven’t even opened the vehicle yet,” he added at 1:30 p.m.
The dead person was a 48-year-old man from Simi Valley, said Sgt. Rick Morton, spokesperson for the department. There was no note found in the vehicle that explained the man’s actions, he said.
No other details were available from authorities.
The library remained open to guests who were inside at the time of the incident, but since the police have closed the street leading up to the library, they did not expect to get new guests, said Melissa Giller, a spokesperson for the library.
The library had about 400 to 500 guests throughout the day and staff and guests leaving the campus had been directed through an alternate street while police investigated, Giller said.
At 4:27 p.m., Simi police sent out a news release saying the area has reopened to traffic.
