Officers with the Ventura Police Department responded to Sheridan Way School on May 3 around 10:30 a.m. to a call from a member of the public about a non-responsive person, said Cmdr. Edward Caliento. The person, Salceda, was later declared dead, he said.

Caliento said no foul play was suspected, and the body and investigation were handed over about an hour later to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Sheridan Way School, which enrolls students from kindergarten to fifth grade, is on the city’s west side, near Highway 33.
