Several local restaurants closed, downgraded by health inspectors

Several more Coachella Valley eateries were closed or downgraded by Riverside County health inspectors this past week, according to reports.

El Baja Tacos in Palm Desert was shut down because no hot water was available during the inspection. Inspectors will return to reinspect the facility.

Additionally, Las Casuelas Terraza in Palm Springs and Haus of Poke and Starbucks in Rancho Mirage were approved to reopen after inspectors closed their facilities last week.

Elsewhere, La Sorpresa Tortilleria in Coachella, Indian Wells Resort Hotel in Indian Wells and Cactus Jack’s Bar & Grill in Palm Desert received “C” grades, while Fiesta Market and an unspecified facility inside the Parker Palm Springs in Palm Springs both scored “B” grades. The facilities were downgraded due to a number of violations, such as vermin, improper food thawing methods, improper hot and cold food holding temperatures and others. Each facility will be revisited and rescored by inspectors.
