EA Sports revealed six players who were given 99 overall ratings in “Madden NFL 27” this year, and two of them were members of the Los Angeles Rams. Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride thinks there should’ve been a third Rams representative in the 99 Club.
McBride, who’s a 99 overall himself, was asked on NFL Network which player should’ve been in the 99 Club, and he immediately went to Puka Nacua.
The Rams superstar is coming off a season in which he led the league in receptions and receiving yards per game, contending for Offensive Player of the Year despite missing one game and parts of two others. He’s unquestionably one of the best wideouts in football, and McBride thinks he’ll be in the heralded 99 Club at some point soon.
“I think of a guy in our division that we play, Puka Nacua’s a guy who had a tremendous year last year, and I thought he was going to be a 99 overall, just from the catches he made and all the plays that he did,” McBride said. “Watching him live, he’s a tremendous player so that’s someone who maybe he’s not on this year, but I fully expect in the next few years to hopefully be on there.”
Nacua’s rating has yet to be revealed by EA, but it’s bound to be close to a 99 overall – perhaps even a 98, just on the fringe of the highest possible rating. He was borderline unstoppable last season, making spectacular catches seemingly every week – catches that not many players are capable of making.
EA adjusts ratings throughout the season, so it’s possible Nacua won’t have to wait until next year to join the 99 Club. If he gets off to a hot start this season, it’s possible he’ll be a 99 overall sooner rather than later.
