Reporter: Lakers are talking to Bucks, Pistons about multi-team trade

The Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes have been heating up lately, and there has been talk that the Miami Heat are urgently trying to put together a trade package to land the Milwaukee Bucks superstar.

Such a trade could be very complicated to pull off, and it could require the participation of at least one other team. There have been reports that Miami is hoping to complete such a deal by the NBA draft, which will start this coming Tuesday.

It seems as if the Los Angeles Lakers may not be trying that hard to land Antetokounmpo right now, but according to Anthony Irwin, a reporter who covers the team, Los Angeles is talking to the Bucks and the Detroit Pistons as part of a potential Antetokounmpo deal. Irwin wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that big man Isaiah Stewart could be sent to L.A. as part of the transaction.

“Sources: The Lakers have been in contact with the Bucks and Pistons as a part of a potential multi-team deal that could send Giannis to Miami. Isaiah Stewart is a name that keeps coming up in connection with the Lakers,” Irwin wrote.

Stewart may not be the answer for the Lakers’ needs at the center position, but perhaps he could be part of the solution. He’s only 6-foot-8 but weighs 250 pounds, and he’s a solid rim-protector. This season, he averaged 10 points on 55% shooting, five rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 22.7 minutes a game for the first-seeded Pistons.

The 25-year-old, of course, is likely best remembered by Lakers fans for getting into a wild fight with LeBron James during the 2021-22 season.

He will make $15 million next season and has a team option for the 2027-28 campaign at $16 million.
